Oct 2023 - Oct 2025: UNESPAR
Table of contents
Part 1. Tech support
I started as a support intern. I liked the university environment as much as I liked helping people. There were days I’d show up right when the gates opened, and between tickets and academic events, I’d only leave when the university closed.
During this period, I learned to work with more autonomy, got familiar with the infrastructure, rolled out new administrative tools, and fell in love with serving the academic community.
Part 2. Back-end developer
In April 2024, I got moved to intern with UNESPAR’s software development team, where I became responsible for developing the Employee Performance Evaluation Module, part of the university’s Administrative Management System (SGA).
But new winds were coming. Right as the module was ready to merge into production, UNESPAR signed an agreement to use the source code of SUAP.
So I got reassigned to the team responsible for adapting this 19-year-old, ~2 million line codebase to the university’s reality, on top of building new features.
While interning on SUAP development, I ended up preparing and teaching an intensive three-day training in Curitiba, meant to get 8 university analysts up to speed on how to develop software within SUAP.
By the end of the training, each analyst had closed a real support ticket from the system’s backlog.
Part 3.
In October 2025 I said goodbye to the team that took me in and trusted my potential as a developer since the days I was cleaning out computer cases!
I’m still grateful, to this day, for all the challenges and for the chance to put my expertise to work alongside public education. Without this experience, I wouldn’t be half the professional I am now.
